This is a pair of framed, Pochoir Fashion prints labeled "Toujour Chic." The frames and mattes are exactly alike. Each piece illustrates a different dress and each has a different legend. This pair of prints includes: "Pollux" and "Malvoisie." The frames are modern, painted wood; the matte on each is also relatively new, and the images appear to have been recently framed. The prints each are originals, although we did not take them apart to find any additional signatures or stamps. Each frame is 10 3/8 inches by 7 7/8 inches by 1/2 inch. The image size (from inside frame edge to frame edge) is 8 3/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches. The condition of this pair is excellent. The frames are tight, without scratches or chips. The glass is intact and the prints themselves are pristine. This pair together weighs 1 pound, 12 ounces.

The method of producing Pochoir prints is a method of applying multiple stencils and hand coloring to create a finished composition. This is a labor-intensive method that was used primarily between 1900 and 1930, and most frequently by French illustrators. It was a preferred illustration style by French fashion houses because the image presented was crisp and colorful.
