This is a very nice series of three distinctive prints, each depicting a Japanese scene of Geisha Girls in traditional garb and surrounded by furnishings found only in that culture. In one scene two women are chatting and viewing something over the balcony; in another one woman is instructing a young man in the art of caligraphy; and in the third, two women are drinking tea and relaxing. These are reproductions of earlier Japanese block prints. Other than the markings within the prints, they are unsigned. Each piece is identically framed and matted within a double matte of black and melon, and framed in wooden, gilt frames. They are in excellent condition, with no stains, tears, folds or other problems to the prints themselves or to the mattes. The frames are also very sturdy, with no chips or scratches. The gilding is in very good condition. Each frame measures 15 inches by 12 1/2 inches by 5/8 inches. The glass is intact in each piece. These items were professionally framed circa 1950 or 1960. The visible portions of the prints are 9 inches by 6 1/2 inches. The predominant colors are melon, coral, peach, black and gray. All together, the three framed pieces weigh 5 pounds, 4 ounces.
